Brahmatal Trek in September
Weather, temperatures, packing and honest advice — from the team that runs this trail.
The quick answer
We don't recommend Brahmatal in September. The trail is at its best in Dec, Jan, Feb, Mar — and there are better options this month (listed below). The trek runs 6 days from Lohajung, Chamoli, reaching 12,250 ft at its highest point, and is graded Moderate (3/5). The fee is ₹7,999 + 5% GST with permits, meals, camping and certified trek leaders included.
Why not this month: July–August monsoon hides the big-mountain views behind cloud and makes the forest sections slippery; summer months are pleasant but ordinary — the lakes and ridge lose their winter magic.
Weather & trail conditions in September
The monsoon washes the sky clean, leaving the sharpest mountain views of the year. Trails are dry, rivers settle down, and nights get progressively colder as winter approaches. On Brahmatal, expect daytime temperatures around 16°C on the trail and roughly 4°C at the highest camps after dark in September.
