Har Ki Dun Trek in February
Weather, temperatures, packing and honest advice — from the team that runs this trail.
The quick answer
We don't recommend Har Ki Dun in February. The trail is at its best in Apr, May, Jun, Sep, Oct, Nov — and there are better options this month (listed below). The trek runs 7 days from Sankri, Uttarkashi, reaching 11,675 ft at its highest point, and is graded Moderate (3/5). The fee is ₹9,450 + 5% GST with permits, meals, camping and certified trek leaders included.
Why not this month: July–August monsoon makes the long river-valley trail landslide-prone; December–February deep snow and extreme cold often restrict access to the upper valley.
Weather & trail conditions in February
Expect snow on the upper sections of the trail and frozen water sources near camps. Micro-spikes and gaiters (provided on our snow treks) become essential above the snowline, and daylight hours are short — days start early and end early. On Har Ki Dun, expect daytime temperatures around 9°C on the trail and roughly -7°C at the highest camps after dark in February.
