We don't recommend Kinner Kailash in January. The trail is at its best in Jul, Aug, Sep — and there are better options this month (listed below). The trek runs 7 days from Kalpa, Kinnaur, reaching 15,500 ft at its highest point, and is graded Difficult (5/5). The fee is ₹18,999 + 5% GST with permits, meals, camping and certified trek leaders included.

Weather & trail conditions in January

Expect snow on the upper sections of the trail and frozen water sources near camps. Micro-spikes and gaiters (provided on our snow treks) become essential above the snowline, and daylight hours are short — days start early and end early. On Kinner Kailash, expect daytime temperatures around 5°C on the trail and roughly -13°C at the highest camps after dark in January.
