Bhrigu Lake Trek Best Time: Which Month Should You Pick?
The best time for the Bhrigu Lake trek is anywhere in its June-to-September season — but the lake you meet at 14,100 ft changes character dramatically by month, from snow-rimmed to emerald to half-frozen. Since this is a four-day trek people often book around a single free weekend, here is exactly what each month gives you.
Bhrigu Lake in June: is there snow?
Yes — June still carries snow patches on the upper slopes above Rola Kholi, and the lake often keeps ice at its edges early in the month. Days are 12–17°C in the meadows, nights around 0–4°C at the high camp. We issue micro-spikes when the snowfields demand them. June suits trekkers who want a wintry summit-day feel without a winter trek.
Bhrigu Lake in July and August: the emerald months
This is when the trek earns its meadow reputation — the grasslands from Gulaba to Rola Kholi turn electric green, horses graze to the horizon, and the lake sits at its bluest. The trail handles monsoon better than most in Kullu, but carry rain layers and expect afternoon showers; mornings are usually the clear half of the day. Nights stay 3–7°C at camp.
Bhrigu Lake in September: moody and clear
The monsoon withdraws, the Pir Panjal stands sharp across the valley, and the lake begins freezing at the edges again — half-frozen and moody by the month's end. Nights dip below freezing at Rola Kholi. September is our photographers' pick, and the last batches of the year run in it.
Is Bhrigu Lake open in October or winter?
No — after September the upper meadows ice over and the route sleeps under snow until the following June. If you're chasing an autumn or winter trek instead, Prashar Lake runs October to June and Triund into December.
Cost and booking
The 4-day trek is ₹7,999 + 5% GST per person, including meals, camping gear, permits and Manali–Gulaba transport. Whichever month matches your calendar, dates are live on the Bhrigu Lake trek page — the lake will be wearing something different when you arrive.
