Churdhar Trek Distance from Nauradhar: The Full Breakdown

The Churdhar trek distance from Nauradhar works out to roughly 16 km each way — but the number tells you little until you see how our 3-day itinerary splits it. Spread across a forest camp at Jamnala, the walk to the 11,965 ft summit of the outer Himalaya becomes a comfortable long-weekend trek rather than the exhausting single-day yatra some attempt. Here is the stage-by-stage arithmetic.

How is the distance split across days?

Day 1: 6 km from Nauradhar to the Jamnala clearing — a steady climb of about 3,500 ft through old-growth deodar, done in 3–4 hours after the morning drive from Solan. Day 2: a 10 km summit round trip through krummholz and boulder slopes to the Shirgul Maharaj temple on top, roughly 8 hours with a long, earned break on the summit rocks. Day 3: the same 6 km back down to Nauradhar on springy forest trails, under 3 hours.

Can you do Churdhar in one day?

Local devotees do — 32 km and 6,700 ft of gain in a single push — and most arrive wrecked. Unless you are genuinely mountain-fit, the overnight version is simply a better trek: you catch sunset and dawn from Jamnala, summit fresh, and actually enjoy the view you walked for, with the Gangetic plains on one side and the Srikhand and Kinnaur snows on the other.

How difficult is the trail?

Easy-Moderate. The path is centuries old and well-trodden — this is a sacred peak — with the only demanding stretch being the final boulder slopes below the shrine. Three to four weeks of brisk walking prepares a first-timer well. Best months are May–June and September–November; the trail rests in monsoon and deep winter.

What does the trek cost?

₹5,999 + 5% GST per person for the 3-day itinerary: all meals, tents, sleeping bags and mats, trek leader and local guide, and the Churdhar Wildlife Sanctuary permits, arranged by us. The Solan–Nauradhar shareable cab is extra. Solan is an easy 6–7 hour bus from Delhi — dates are live on the Churdhar trek page.
