Dayara Bugyal Trek in October
Weather, temperatures, packing and honest advice — from the team that runs this trail.
The quick answer
We don't recommend Dayara Bugyal in October. The trail is at its best in Dec, Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Jun — and there are better options this month (listed below). The trek runs 4 days from Raithal, Uttarkashi, reaching 12,100 ft at its highest point, and is graded Easy (1/5). The fee is ₹5,500 + 5% GST with permits, meals, camping and certified trek leaders included.
Why not this month: July–August monsoon turns meadow paths to slush and covers Bandarpoonch in cloud; the thin meadow soil also erodes fastest in rain — we'd rather not add footfall then.
Weather & trail conditions in October
The monsoon washes the sky clean, leaving the sharpest mountain views of the year. Trails are dry, rivers settle down, and nights get progressively colder as winter approaches. On Dayara Bugyal, expect daytime temperatures around 13°C on the trail and roughly 0°C at the highest camps after dark in October.
