We don't recommend Green Lake in July. The trail is at its best in Apr, May, Oct, Nov — and there are better options this month (listed below). The trek runs 11 days from Lachen, North Sikkim, reaching 16,000 ft at its highest point, and is graded Difficult (5/5). Rain is a daily companion on most Himalayan trails in these months — expect slippery descents, leeches in the forest sections and occasional roadblocks on the drives. Only monsoon-suitable trails should be attempted. On Green Lake, expect daytime temperatures around 15°C on the trail and roughly 3°C at the highest camps after dark in July.
