We don't recommend Sar Pass in August. The trail is at its best in Apr, May, Jun — and there are better options this month (listed below). The trek runs 5 days from Kasol, Parvati Valley, reaching 13,800 ft at its highest point, and is graded Moderate (3/5). Rain is a daily companion on most Himalayan trails in these months — expect slippery descents, leeches in the forest sections and occasional roadblocks on the drives. Only monsoon-suitable trails should be attempted. On Sar Pass, expect daytime temperatures around 18°C on the trail and roughly 8°C at the highest camps after dark in August.
