We don't recommend Sar Pass in December. The trail is at its best in Apr, May, Jun — and there are better options this month (listed below). The trek runs 5 days from Kasol, Parvati Valley, reaching 13,800 ft at its highest point, and is graded Moderate (3/5). The fee is ₹10,999 + 5% GST with permits, meals, camping and certified trek leaders included.

Weather & trail conditions in December

Expect snow on the upper sections of the trail and frozen water sources near camps. Micro-spikes and gaiters (provided on our snow treks) become essential above the snowline, and daylight hours are short — days start early and end early. On Sar Pass, expect daytime temperatures around 8°C on the trail and roughly -7°C at the highest camps after dark in December.
