Nag Tibba Trek: The Complete Weekend Guide from Dehradun

The Nag Tibba trek answers the most common question we get: 'I have a weekend and zero experience — can I still do a real Himalayan trek?' Yes. Two days, a genuine 9,915 ft summit, and a sunrise over Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini and the Gangotri ranges — all starting from Pantwari village, just 85 km from Dehradun. No experience needed, and we mean it.

Nag Tibba Trek: The Complete Weekend Guide from Dehradun

What is the Nag Tibba trek itinerary?

Day 1 leaves Dehradun early, drives past Mussoorie to Pantwari, and climbs a steady 4 km through oak forest to base camp at 8,530 ft — in time for sunset over the Doon valley and a bonfire dinner. Day 2 starts pre-dawn for the summit push to the 'Serpent's Peak' at 9,915 ft, catches sunrise over a 180-degree wall of snow peaks, then descends all the way to Pantwari and drives back to Dehradun by evening.

When is the best time for Nag Tibba?

October through April — a generous seven-month window. Winter weekends (December-February) frequently deliver snow at camp and on the summit ridge, which turns a great first trek into an unforgettable one. Autumn and spring give warmer nights and equally sharp views.

How difficult is the Nag Tibba trek?

Rated Easy — our gentlest summit. Day 2 is still a 10 km day, so a couple of weeks of evening walks beforehand will make it far more fun. If you can climb five floors of stairs without drama, you can do Nag Tibba.

What does the Nag Tibba trek cost?

₹4,999 + 5% GST per person for the full weekend: all meals from Day 1 lunch to Day 2 lunch, alpine tents on twin sharing with sleeping bags, trek leader and local guide, forest permits, and a bonfire when weather permits. The Dehradun-Pantwari shareable cab is extra.

How do you reach the trek?

Dehradun is superbly connected — overnight trains from Delhi arrive by 5-6 AM, which syncs perfectly with the morning departure to Pantwari. Fly into Jolly Grant airport if you prefer.
