The Nag Tibba trek in September, October, December — every month gets searched, because this 9,915 ft weekend summit near Mussoorie is the one Himalayan trek people can do almost on impulse. The official season runs October to April, and the mountain changes character right through it. Here is the month-by-month weather picture, with temperatures, plus the weekend logistics from Delhi that make this trek famous.
Nag Tibba trek in September
The tail of the monsoon. Early September still brings showers and slippery trails; by the final week the skies rinse clean and the forests are at their greenest. Days run 18-22 degrees C, nights a mild 8-12 degrees C at the 8,530 ft base camp. Our regular batches begin in October, when the weather is dependably dry.
Nag Tibba trek in October and November
The classic window. Post-monsoon clarity puts the full 180-degree wall — Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini, the Gangotri ranges — on display at sunrise, and camping weather is perfect: 15-20 degrees C days, 5-8 degrees C nights in October, cooling through November. If you want views over snow, book these months.
Nag Tibba in winter (December to February)
Snow season. Winter weekends frequently deliver snow at base camp and on the summit ridge — a real Himalayan snow trek two hours from Mussoorie. Days sit at 8-14 degrees C, nights dip to -2 to -6 degrees C; our sleeping bags handle it easily. March-April then warm the trail back up with rhododendron blooms before the May haze and monsoon close the season.
How to do the Nag Tibba trek from Delhi?
The beloved zero-leave plan: board a Friday overnight train or bus from Delhi to Dehradun, arriving by 5-6 AM Saturday — perfectly timed for the morning shared cab to Pantwari (85 km). Trek Day 1 to base camp, summit Sunday at dawn, descend, and be back in Dehradun by evening for the overnight journey home. At your desk Monday, summit photo as proof.
