Himalayan Summer Camps 2027
A nine-day outdoor programme for children aged 10–14.
A trekking summer camp does what no classroom can: it hands your child real responsibility in a real place. Over nine days in the Uttarakhand Himalayas, campers learn to trek, camp, cook, navigate and look after each other — with certified leaders watching over every step.
More than 8,000 children have been through our camps. Parents tell us the same thing every year: the child who comes back is more confident, more independent and far more capable than the one they dropped off.
What campers learn
Trekking & camping basics
Walking technique, packing a rucksack, pitching tents, camp routines and mountain safety.
Nature skills
Bird and wildlife spotting, reading the landscape, and stargazing sessions at camp.
Sustainability skills
Hands-on Green Trails work — waste segregation, litter collection and leave-no-trace habits that stick.
Life skills
Responsibility, teamwork, resilience and independence — practised daily, not preached.
Where the camps run
Registrations are open for March and April 2027 batches. Backpack offloading and a cloakroom for extra luggage are available at basecamp. Rental gear for all trek essentials is available — most campers outgrow gear within a year, so renting is the smarter choice.
Why send your child to a trekking summer camp
Real independence, safely
Campers manage their own gear, tents and daily duties inside a structure run by certified leaders with a high staff-to-camper ratio.
Screens off, senses on
Nine days without a phone. Campers rediscover boredom, and what children invent when they're bored is the whole point.
Confidence you can see
Standing on a summit they earned with their own legs changes how a child talks about themselves. Parents notice it at the airport.
A head start on awards
Older siblings aged 15–17 can join our Adventurous Journey programme, which meets IAYP / Duke of Edinburgh award requirements.
What trekkers say
“She unpacked her own bag, did her own laundry and planned our next family trip. Who is this child?”
“He called us exactly once — to say he was too busy to call.”
“The quietest boy in his class came home leading the dinner-table conversation.”
“Worth it for the confidence alone. The summit photo is a bonus.”
The same three-pillar safety system, on every themed trek
Over 24,000 trekkers — including children and seniors — have walked with us without an untoward incident. That record rests on three pillars.
People
Wilderness First Responder certified trek leaders, trained support staff, and staff-to-trekker ratios matched to each batch type.
Processes
Twice-daily health checks, fitness approvals before the trek, acclimatisation built into every itinerary, and clear turn-around protocols.
Equipment
Oxygen cylinders on every batch, medical kits at every camp, radios where networks fail, and quality-checked gear throughout.
