We don't recommend Hilley–Barsey in July. The trail is at its best in Mar, Apr, May — and there are better options this month (listed below). The trek runs 3 days from Hilley, West Sikkim, reaching 10,000 ft at its highest point, and is graded Easy-Moderate (2/5). The fee is ₹7,999 + 5% GST with permits, meals, camping and certified trek leaders included.
Weather & trail conditions in July
Rain is a daily companion on most Himalayan trails in these months — expect slippery descents, leeches in the forest sections and occasional roadblocks on the drives. Only monsoon-suitable trails should be attempted. On Hilley–Barsey, expect daytime temperatures around 21°C on the trail and roughly 12°C at the highest camps after dark in July.
